CARLISLE INFANT SCHOOL PHONICS PROGRESSION MAP
Being able to read is the most vital skill children will learn during their early schooling due to the implications it has on lifelong confidence and all round well-being. Early reading skills and phonics are fundamental in giving children the skills needed to access and embrace their learning and the wider world around them.
Phonics teaching enables children to make connections between the sounds of our spoken words and the letters that are used to write them down. Our school priority is that every child leaves Carlisle Infant School as a confident, competent reader.
We teach early reading through the systematic, synthetic phonics programme ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised.’
